Dear Potential New Member,

Hi, I’m Petra Kohler, Vice President of Membership for Delta Gamma. I am so excited that you’re starting this journey. A few years ago, I was in your place—nervous but hopeful that I would find where I belonged. The moment I stepped into Delta Gamma, I felt something I hadn’t expected—a sense of home.

Delta Gamma isn’t just a sorority; it’s a family. It’s where I’ve laughed until I cried, found strength during hard times, and built friendships that I know will last forever. The women here are truly incredible—kind, driven, and full of heart. They’ve pushed me to be the best version of myself and taught me what it means to be part of something bigger.

One of the most meaningful parts of Delta Gamma is our motto and dedication to “Do Good”. Whether we’re volunteering, fundraising to support Service for Sight, or simply supporting each other, we’re always working to make a positive impact.

This recruitment week is about finding your place. Stay true to yourself. You will find the home that helps you grow, just as Delta Gamma has done for my sisters and me. I can’t wait to meet you and for you to discover what anchors you!

XOXO Petra

Why Delta Gamma?

Representing a wide range of backgrounds and personalities, every member of Delta Gamma is unique. Yet we all share a single bond of sisterhood forged through friendship and a shared vision of support and community. Our sisters challenge us to grow and transform into the best version of ourselves, while also reminding us to embrace the person that initially brought us home to Delta Gamma.

Joining Delta Gamma

Being a Delta Gamma is more than joining a chapter of our Fraternity. It is the first step in developing a life-long sisterhood and bonds with women who want to make the world a better place. During recruitment, we seek women who will bring the qualities that our members themselves hold near and dear, such as:

• A lifelong commitment to Delta Gamma

• The desire to partake in service to help others

• Achieving full academic potential

• Participation and/or eagerness to undertake leadership positions

• Join activities, athletics, and share talents within DG and UF community

• Strong moral character

Who is a Delta Gamma Legacy?

The term "legacy" is used to describe a potential new member who is a sister, daughter, granddaughter, or great-granddaughter of a member of Delta Gamma. The Fraternity also recognizes a stepsister, stepdaughter, step-granddaughter, or step-great-granddaughter as a legacy. While we understand that sisters, mothers, grandmothers and close relatives will continue to share their cherished Delta Gamma memories with those preparing for sorority recruitment, the opportunity to become a member is the same for all potential new members based on individual qualifications.  Once a bid is offered, a new member’s DG relative can embrace their legacy but until they become a Delta Gamma by the chapter’s choice, they are equal to all other potential new members.

If you are a member of Delta Gamma wishing to submit a recommendation for a legacy or other potential new member, access the online recommendation form from your Delta Gamma Member Profile. You will be prompted to log in or create a log in if you do not currently have one set up. If you need your member number or any assistance logging in, please email dg-eo@deltagamma.org.

Message to Parents

As a member of Delta Gamma Fraternity, your daughter is joining an organization dedicated to promoting high ideals of friendship, educational and cultural interests, a true sense of social responsibility and developing the best qualities of character.

We invite you to learn more about Delta Gamma's history and founding at Our Story, and to flip through our Parent Guide which will introduce you to resources and information that will help you better understand the foundation and purpose of our organization.
